Jobber Drill Bits

• The split point reduces “walking” which is the tendency of a spinning bit to rotate away from the point at which you want to drill
• Available in High Speed Steel and Titanium Nitride-coated (TiN-coated) High Speed Steel (HSS),
• The added Titanium Nitride coating increases the surface hardness to approximately 2300 HV and the heat resistance to 1100°F (600°C).
• The High Speed Steel (HSS) allows the bit to cut faster than High Carbon Steel. At room temperature HSS and high carbon steel have an equivalent hardness; at elevated temperatures, HSS become advantageous
• The Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating is an extremely hard ceramic. It is often used as a coating on HSS to improve hardness and durability

The HSS ground twist drill bit is made of heavy-duty high-speed steel.

• The fully ground twist drill bit has a more precise concentricity.
• HSS-TiN drill bit models add a titanium nitride coating, to increase the surface hardness and the heat resistance.
• The Titanium Nitride coating also provides longer tool life with increased cutting speeds.

Use High Speed Steel drill bits and HSS-TiN coated drill bits for:

• Steel and stainless steel
• Alloyed and unalloyed cast iron (up to strength of 13,000 psi)
• Grey, malleable, ductile and die-cast iron
• Sintered iron, nickel silver, graphite
• Short chipping aluminum alloys
• Brass and bronze
